Opera (Oviedo)

After the rebuilding of the Teatro Campoamor in 1948, a new phase begins in the operatic history of the city of Oviedo. The City Council arranges the lyric cycle from then onwards up to 1977; this was the last year when the consistory organized the operatic season of the city.
In order to keep on with the lyric cycle, a group of enthusiasts set up in November 1977, the Asociación Asturiana de Amigos de la Ópera (Opera Friends Association of Asturias), that would arrange the following season.
Lately, on 6th July 1995, the firstly called Fundación Festival Ópera de Oviedo (Oviedo Opera Festival Foundation) was created. On 14th December 2004, the entity denomination becomes Fundación Ópera de Oviedo (Opera Oviedo Foundation), being the one in charge of executing the city’s operatic program.
